Episode Title:“You Can't Live a Bigger Life While Thinking Small"

Cameron:

Welcome back to The iTSALLTeam Podcast.

I'm Cameron.

Let me ask you something.

Have you ever walked into a store and immediately looked for the clearance rack?

Not because you needed to...

Not because you were broke...

But because that's just where you automatically went?

You didn't even look at the rest of the store.

You already decided what you could afford before you ever saw the price tags.

Now here's a tougher question.

How many people are living their entire lives that way?

Not just shopping.

Living.

Staying in the same job.

Driving the same car.

Living in the same financial situation.

Because somewhere along the way they decided...

"This is probably all I deserve."

Today's episode is about something that could completely change your life.

The idea that if you want more from life...

You have to start participating at a higher level.

And joining me today is Michelle.

Michelle, welcome back.

Michelle:

Thanks Cameron.

I think a lot of people don't realize they've built invisible fences around themselves.

Nobody else put them there.

They put them there.

I remember years ago walking into an outdoor sporting goods store.

Everything seemed expensive.

I looked at a jacket and thought:

"Who would spend that much on a jacket?"

Then I started talking to people who bought those jackets.

Many of them weren't rich.

They simply valued quality differently.

They expected more from what they bought.

More durability.

More performance.

More comfort.

Their standards were different.

Cameron:

This isn't really about jackets.

It's about identity.

A lot of people shop at Walmart.

Nothing wrong with Walmart.

I buy things there too.

But if a person believes they can ONLY shop at Walmart...

That's different.

That's a mindset issue.

The moment someone walks into a nicer store they start saying:

"I could never afford this."

"That's for rich people."

"That's not for someone like me."

And what they're really saying is:

"I'm not that kind of person."

Lesson #1: Your Life Follows Your Standards

Michelle:

Most people focus on goals.

But successful people focus on standards.

A goal says:

"I want to earn more money."

A standard says:

"I no longer accept being broke."

Those are very different things.

One is a wish.

One is a decision.

Cameron:

I know people making the same income they made ten years ago.

Not because opportunities don't exist.

Because their standards never changed.

They accepted it.

When you raise your standards, your behavior changes.

You start reading different books.

Listening to different podcasts.

Spending time with different people.

Learning new skills.

The standard changes first.

The income comes later.

Lesson #2: You Have To Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable

Michelle:

Most growth feels awkward.

The first time you speak on video.

Awkward.

The first time you start a side business.

Awkward.

The first time you tell people you're trying to improve your financial future.

Awkward.

Growth usually doesn't feel comfortable.

That's why most people stop.

Cameron:

Generation X especially struggles with this.

We grew up hearing:

Get a job.

Work hard.

Stay loyal.

Retire someday.

But the world changed.

Now many people are realizing that one paycheck may not be enough.

So they need to learn new skills.

That's uncomfortable.

But staying stuck is uncomfortable too.

Choose your discomfort.

Lesson #3: Start Acting Like The Person You Want To Become

Michelle:

One of the biggest mistakes people make is waiting.

They think:

"When I make more money, then I'll act successful."

But it usually works the opposite way.

You start acting like the future version of yourself, first.

Then the results begin showing up.

Cameron:

Exactly.

The future version of you reads books.

Learns new skills.

Builds relationships.

Shows up consistently.

Keeps commitments.

Creates opportunities.

You don't magically become that person later.

You become that person today.

One decision at a time.

Michelle:

Let's imagine two people.

Both are 50 years old.

Both have similar jobs.

Both earn similar incomes.

Person A says:

"This is just how life is."

Person B says:

"What skills can I learn over the next five years?"

"What income streams can I create?"

"What kind of life do I really want?"

Five years later their lives look completely different.

Not because one was smarter.

Because one chose to participate at a higher level.

Cameron:

The biggest difference between people who stay stuck and people who move forward isn't talent.

It's participation.

They show up.

They try.

They learn.

They fail.

They adjust.

Then they try again.

Most people never give themselves permission to pursue a bigger life.

Today I'm giving you permission.

You don't need anyone else's approval.

Not your friends.

Not your coworkers.

Not your neighbors.

You only need your own.

Michelle:

If today's episode resonated with you, ask yourself one question:

"What area of my life am I settling in?"

Maybe it's finances.

Maybe it's health.

Maybe it's relationships.

Maybe it's personal growth.

Whatever it is, commit to raising your standards.

Because here's the truth:

You don't have to become a millionaire overnight.

You don't have to own a private jet.

You don't have to become famous.

But you do owe it to yourself to see how much more you're capable of becoming.

Until next time...

I'm Cameron.

Michelle:

I'm Michelle.

And remember...

The life you want starts when you stop accepting the life you've settled for.
