Opportunity doesn't always look like money. Sometimes it looks like wisdom.
Several weeks ago, one of my coworkers handed me a book by Marcus Aurelius and said, "I think you'll enjoy reading this."
She was right.
It's not a novel. It's not a book of stories. It's more like reading the personal journal of a man who spent his life trying to become wiser, stronger, and more disciplined.
One passage especially stood out to me:
"The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way." — Marcus Aurelius
I think that message really speaks to Generation X.
We've lived through layoffs, recessions, raising kids, caring for aging parents, financial struggles, and plenty of unexpected detours.
But many of those obstacles became the very experiences that shaped who we are today.
Sometimes the greatest opportunity isn't finding an easier path...
It's discovering what you're capable of because life forced you to take the harder path.
Tomorrow I'll be releasing this week's podcast, where I share a few of the lessons I took away from this remarkable book and why I think they're just as relevant today as they were nearly 2,000 years ago.

I'd love to hear from you:
