Leave it Better than you Found It
Some of the best advice I ever received wasn't complicated.
It was simply this:
"Leave things better than you found them."
That applies to a lot more than just work.
Leave your home a little cleaner.
Leave your finances a little stronger.
Leave your health a little better.
Leave your relationships a little healthier.
Leave your community a little kinder.
As a head custodian, this lesson is part of what I do every day. Every classroom, hallway, and office gets a little attention so the next person walks into a place that's ready for them. But over the years I've realized this principle reaches far beyond cleaning buildings.
Generation X was raised to solve problems. We learned to figure things out, work hard, and take responsibility. Those values are still just as important today.
You don't have to change your whole life overnight.
Just make one thing a little better today than it was yesterday.
Small improvements, repeated over time, become a completely different life.
